Dr. Fred Baret from French National Institute for Agricultural Research, Paris (INRA) visited our group
Dr. Fred Baret from French National Institute for Agricultural Research, Paris (INRA) visited our group on April 25th, 2019. He has established and led the UMT—CAPTE research team which is composed of around 20 members. He has supervised more than 40 PhD students and post-doctoral researchers. The total number of his published SCI papers has reached 210, with a total citation of 9,739 times. His recent research focuses on the development of near-surface remote sensing platform and algorithm for high-throughput phenotyping.
During his visit, he gave a talk entitled “advances in high-throughput field phenotyping activities to accelerate genetic improvement”, which attracted a lot of audiences from our institute as well as some other universities (e.g., University of China Agriculture, Beijing Normal University). In addition, he visted the “Crop3D” outdoor platform built by our Lab, and had a deep discussion with Prof. Qinghua Guo on the current hotspots and challenges of the remote sensing technology in phenotyping studies.
Besides, Dr. Baret also had close interactions with the student members in the Digital Ecosystem Group, and share his experience on how to be creative on research and how to balance life with research.
