The symposium on “application of remote sensing in biodiversity” was successfully held on November 15, 2017, at the Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of sciences. This conference was hosted by the Institute of Botany of the CAS, the Satellite Environment Center of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Biodiversity Committee of the CAS, and organized by the digital ecology research group of the State Key Laboratory of Vegetation and Environmental Change. More than 130 people from 20 units, such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, the Institute of Botany of the CAS, the Institute of geography of CAS and so on, attended the conference.

 

Xinming Jing, Vice director of Institute of Botany and Wenhao Zhang, director of the key laboratory delivered the opening speech for the conferenc  e, and Professor Qinghua Guo chaired the seminar. Professor Peng Gong from Tsinghua University, Professor Keping Ma from Institute of Botany, Professor Zhanqing Hao from Shenyang Institute of ecology, and other researchers and professors working in the front lines of the application of remote sensing in biological diversity, made wonderful academic reports and conducted extensive discussions and exchanges with the attendees.

In the afternoon, after listening to the relevant reports, some experts made a further discussion on the preparations for the special issue of remote sensing of biodiversity.
